The British Pedal Car Grand Prix is a two-hour endurance race, held on the closed roads of the pretty New Forest town of Ringwood, in Hampshire. It is Ringwood’s answer to the Monaco Grand Prix! The race is held biennially with another local pedal car grand prix held in the nearby town of New Milton, on the alternate years.

The British Pedal Car Grand Prix attracts a wide variety of pedal cars, from the deadly serious racers to those that amuse the crowds. Each team is allowed to have up to four pedallers and one pusher, and they can change drivers as often as they like during the race.

Filming for Reuters Satellite TV too!

In 2004 local television presenter Chris Packham headed a team and the race was filmed for BBC TV. It was also filmed for Reuters and was seen by millions of people worldwide on satellite TV!

In 2006 the British Pedal Car Grand Prix was won by popular local car No 23 - Patterson’s Banger, just ahead of main rivals Photos Rule, with Royce 2 in third place.

The 2004 British Pedal Car Grand Prix was won by the KC Racing/Royce/RHH Franks pedal car (Number 2) with a spirited performance of 70 laps of the kilometre circuit, followed closely in second place by Great Central Racing, who had travelled from Bristol to take part in the race.

Action in the Market Place!

Junior teams also take part in the race, and the Whizz Pigs (Number 34) managed to beat Chris Packham’s BBC TV team in 2004 – much to their delight!

There will also be a pedal car Concours D’ Elegance held in the Market Place on Saturday 12th July 2008, with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

World Champion cyclist Nicole Cooke has presented the prizes at the British Pedal Car Grand Prix, and is seen here giving pedal cars her seal of approval!
