Basic
Characteristics
The
cars shall be single seaters, driven solely by leg power. Overall
maximum length = 3000 mm. Overall maximum width = 1125 mm.
Mechanical

Number
of wheels = 4
Steering wheels at the front
Drive on 1 or 2 wheels
Minimum distance between the wheels = 500 mm
Maximum rim diameter = 500 mm
Steering - The ability to turn through 90 degrees in a road of minimum
width of 3.5 metres.
Crank gear - The axle must be at the same height, within 30 centimetres
(1ft) as the top of the seat, including cushions (i.e. the driver
position must be seated as in a car with the pedals ahead of the seat.
The pedals should not be below the seat as on a bicycle).
Effective brakes are OBLIGATORY and MUST brake on a minimum of 2 wheels.
Brakes may be independently operated as long as they can be operated
simultaneously.
No protruding spindles from side of wheels (on safety grounds).
Bodywork/Covering
By
the bodywork is meant original shape or covering, weather resistant,
(own choice of material) and covering the vehicle. The bodywork must
have no protrusions or sharp edges and must be securely attached to the
car. The car race number should be displayed prominently on the bodywork
so that it is clearly visible to the front, rear and sides.
Lighting
and horns are optional. A rear view mirror is also optional and no
longer obligatory.
Cars
should have a safe and secure space on the chassis within 10 inches
(approx axle height) of the ground to mount (with cable ties or velcro)
a lap counting transponder. Assume a transponder size approximately that
of a cigarette packet and there should be no metalwork between the
mounting and the ground.
Wearing of crash helmets is OBLIGATORY.
