PIT
LANE RUMOURS
Record Entry for the New
Milton Grand Prix
At the beginning of May we were expecting to have to cancel the junior
race as, even though the senior entries were exceptional, only three
junior teams had registered. However, everything turned around during the month
with the juniors flooding in. By 1st June we exceeded ten entries which
made the junior race viable and by the time of the pit draw on 10th June
we had a total of 14 junior teams which will make for an excellent race.
At the same time the senior race numbers leapt up to 37 exactly the same
as raced in 2007. This means we've had a total of 51 entries, 14 more
than 2007 and theres still another month for this number to rise!
Amongst these numbers we have three cars travelling down from Rugby, two
junior teams from our twin town of St Mare Eglise, three ladies entries,
two scout teams, two school teams and two teams from our local Army
Cadets, not to mention a car built by the engineers from Penske Racing
(yes the Indycar team) and a whole raft of wonderfully built
masterpieces and misfits. It all set for a fantastic day on 12th July!
Grid Draws
The BBQ on 10th June was well attended with a number of cars turning out
for inspection. During the evening the draws were made for senior and
junior pit positions and the hi tech "Wildfire" drew pole in
the senior race whilst the army cadets 6 Troop KRH car Cut 'n' Shut drew
pole in the junior race. Click on the links below to see the complete
grid lineup. Note that if you still have not entered and wish to do so,
we are still accepting entries but late entries will now be placed at the back of the
grid. A BIG THANK YOU to Cliff Polton for providing the venue and Mr
& Mrs Pilley for their exceptional culinary skills. The Race
Directors dog loved the burgers :-)

Race Schedule
Re-Organisation
Due to the large number of entries we've been forced to rethink our
plans for the day. The Junior race will now start at 12:30pm and run til
2:00pm and the Senior race will run from 2:30pm to 4:30pm. The briefing
for all drivers will take place at 11:30am in the Memorial Hall. In the
interests of safety all drivers must attend this briefing.
Drivers can sign on and take there cars for scrutineering any time
between 9:00am and 12:00pm. Cars may be left in the Parc Ferme for safe
keeping by the race stewards. Pit changeovers between races will no
longer be necessary as a separate pit area will be established for the
juniors in Station Road, just south of the traffic lights. The senior
pits will be in the normal location north of the traffic lights. A more
detailed race day schedule may be found here
and a new race briefing may be found here.

Photos 2009
Apparently, there's some funny goings-on in garages and workshops around
the area and indeed, further afield. Strange contraptions are emerging
from all sorts of places and we've got the photos to prove it. Click

New Lap Counting System
for the NMGP
Have you ever wondered how your laps are counted so acturately as you
race round the track. Well it's all down to the hard work of the lap
counting team and a rather archaic lap counting program. So old in fact
that it will only run on Windows NT, gives very little information to
the commentator, takes many minutes after the race to deduce the race
order and it can't handle more than forty cars. Well for 2009 we've
developed a new and improved system (LATTICE) that features instant
readout of race data, support for up to fifty cars, instant results
printout and a touch screen input. But lets not forget the efforts of
the lap counting team who have performed this task for many years under
great pressure, and do it so well that no one realises they're there.
Thanks guys and gals, you make it all possible.
